Daun Sirih fluoride-free oral care products from Indonesia with betel pepper
The Indonesian dental care series Daun Sirih offers caries prevention without fluoride. It contains the extract of betel pepper leaves, a pepper plant with antibacterial properties. Betel pepper has been proven to be effective against the caries pathogen Streptococcus mutans.
Betel pepper (Piper betle) has been used for hundreds of years in traditional Indonesian and Ayurvedic medicine and is used, particularly in Southeast Asia, as a remedy for headaches, toothaches, arthritis and joint pain, as well as as a stimulant and as an antiseptic.
