Dog dental care

... with ultrasonic toothbrush & Dog toothpaste

Even our four-legged friends are not immune to dental diseases. Dogs can get tartar, bad breath and sore gums just like us. Especially when remains of food get stuck in the spaces between the teeth, an ideal breeding ground for bacteria is created. The bacteria form plaque and if this is not removed from the teeth, minerals from the saliva become deposited in it and harden into tartar. This process is the same for humans and animals. Tartar has a rough surface and other bacteria can easily adhere to it and wreak havoc in the mouth. If hygiene is poor, the bacteria cause bad breath and inflammation in the dog's mouth. If this is not treated, it can develop into periodontitis, which in the worst case can result in tooth loss. A spread of the inflammation to the internal organs cannot be ruled out either.

Dental care for dogs is not only important for maintaining the teeth, but also with regard to the animal's general health. But how and with what should you brush your dog's teeth? We'll explain it to you.

Ultrasonic toothbrush for dogs

megasonex-ultraschall-hundezahnbuesteWith an ultrasonic toothbrush, the dog's teeth can be cleaned very thoroughly without attacking the tooth enamel or gums. However, it is important that the device works without moving the bristles or that they can be switched off. If the device vibrates, most dogs will not have their teeth brushed - apart from the fact that the dog's teeth should be cleaned as gently as possible. The Megasonex ultrasonic toothbrush was actually developed for cleaning teeth in humans, but can also be used for dogs. Many of our customers tell us that they successfully use Megasonex on their dogs. The advantage of the Megasonex ultrasonic toothbrush is that the movements of the bristles can be completely switched off while the ultrasound remains active. The dog doesn't notice any of the power of the toothbrush. The ultrasound breaks up the bacterial chains on the teeth and these can then simply be brushed away. Plaque and tartar do not form with regular use and you do not have to expect the dog to have the tartar removed under general anesthesia. If you use the ultrasonic toothbrush on your dog, you should use a Use a brush head with a strength of soft. The bristles are particularly soft and rounded at the top. The risk of injury is therefore very low and actually impossible. The tooth enamel is not scratched and the gums are protected. It's best to get your dog used to brushing his teeth from an early age. The brush head of the Megasonex is quite small, so you can use it easily even on puppies and small dogs and can reach all areas of the mouth. To brush your dog's teeth, carefully lift his lips and slide the toothbrush over each individual tooth. Use light shaking or circular movements and a downward wiping motion to remove the soft deposits. Once the plaque has been brushed away, tartar can no longer form. If your dog simply cannot have his teeth brushed with an ultrasonic toothbrush, you can also use one use the tooth-fingerling. These are also available with an antibacterial silver coating.

Dog toothpaste

liladent-hundezahnpasta-11Cleaning your dog's teeth is even more effective if you use toothpaste. However, conventional toothpaste for humans is not suitable. The dog does not tolerate all of the ingredients or needs a combination of mineralizing, antibacterial and cleansing active ingredients, ideally on a natural basis. Please use special dog toothpaste. This is developed by veterinarians and pharmacists and is individually tailored to the needs of dogs to ensure that the teeth are well cleaned and supplied with the necessary nutrients.

You simply apply the dog toothpaste to your toothbrush like you would with your own toothpaste. A thin layer is enough. Especially if you brush with the ultrasonic toothbrush, you should moisten the brush head beforehand. The ultrasound requires moisture and is therefore better conducted.
