Dental care with the right toothbrush for children
As soon as the first tooth appears, dental care should also be started for children. Even with the first teeth you should not risk tooth decay in order to avoid a bacterial attack on the jaw and consequently on the permanent teeth. In addition to a suitable children's toothpaste with an age-appropriate proportion of minerals, the right children's toothbrush should also be selected. Age plays a decisive role in the selection of a children's toothbrush. While a silicone thimble toothbrush is a suitable toothbrush aid for babies and toddlers, a children's toothbrush should be used for children from the age of 2 or 3 years, which the child can also use independently to practice brushing teeth. At the end of primary school, depending on the child's size, the toothbrush can be changed to an adult toothbrush. It is important that the toothbrush reaches all areas of the mouth, including the cheeks. You should therefore above all avoid the brush head being too large. This does not only apply to a child's toothbrush.
Should I use an electric toothbrush for children?
You will not find any electric toothbrushes for children in our range. We recommend that children brush their teeth with a manual toothbrush for as long as possible so that they do not forget the correct toothbrushing technique at an early stage. An electric toothbrush tempts you not to brush properly because of the movements of the bristles. Older children, who know how to brush their teeth, can also brush electrically. For certain problems, such as increased tartar formation due to the composition of the saliva, the use of an ultrasonic toothbrush can also be useful for children. As there is no ultrasound toothbrush especially for children, special care should be taken that the brush head is not too large and that all areas of the mouth are reached with the brush.
Children's toothbrushes from SPLAT
In the smilestore you will find children's toothbrushes of our own brand SPLAT, which are suitable for children from 2 to 8 years. The special feature of these children's toothbrushes is not only the child-friendly size of the brush head but also the condition of the bristles. The arrangement of the bristles is chosen so that brushing is as effective as possible. The deepening in the middle follows the shape of a tooth, the long bristles on the side massage the gums and reach even hard-to-reach places. According to the dentist's recommendation, the bristles are soft and remove plaque without damaging the sensitive childlike enamel. For antibacterial protection, the bristles are coated with silver ions. Silver is naturally antibacterial and inhibits the growth of bacteria and germs. The handle is designed to fit comfortably in the hand and prevent children from slipping when brushing their teeth.
