We are affiliated with the company Landbell - Gesellschaft für nachhaltige Kreislaufwirtschaft mbH. As such, the responsibility for the costs of waste disposal lies with us, as we pack your goods ready for dispatch. As we, as a mail-order retailer, cannot deal with the disposal of individual packaging items, the Dual Systems exist.

There are currently eight providers approved as dual systems in Germany. They act as intermediaries, so to speak, between retailers and end customers and ensure that the packaging generated is returned to the resource cycle. All end customers can dispose of the packaging free of charge at the appropriate collection points. Paper in the paper bin, plastics in the yellow bag and glass in the glass recycling bin. As this system operates in parallel with standard household waste disposal, it is known as the “dual system”. The costs of disposal are borne by the retailers and distributed among all parties via a levy. 

Since 2000, a voluntary environmental performance report has also been published, which expresses the actual savings in primary energy and CO2 emissions in concrete figures. In addition to the legally required proof of material flows, the Dual System Germany thus provides public transparency regarding its contribution to resource conservation. The Öko-Institut has investigated the environmental impacts and potential of the dual system on behalf of DSD. According to the findings, the system is already making a significant contribution to climate and resource protection.

Packaging

Our parcels are filled with void-filling material made from 100% recycled polystyrene, free from flame retardants. These are reusable and can be completely broken down by natural microorganisms within 60 days. The additives do not contain any critical limit values as defined by the EU’s dangerous substances/preparations directives and are not hazardous to health.
