Children's toothpaste can be tasty and effective

Dental care is also immensely important for children. Caries can transfer directly from the milk teeth to the permanent teeth and cause long-term damage.

When should children's toothpaste be used?

You should start your child's dental care with the first milk tooth. There are special toothpastes for babies and toddlers. We offer Splat fluoride-free children's toothpaste for 0 - 4 year olds. The gel from Bio-Aloe-Vera alleviates gum pain during the teeth and helps with bio-active calcium to build up a strong enamel of children. The enclosed silicone fingerling brush makes it easy to apply children's toothpaste.

What to do if the child does not want to brush his or her teeth?

If your child doesn't want to brush his or her teeth, maybe it's the wrong toothpaste. For example, many children prefer children's toothpaste without mint or even taste. Other children like it when the toothpaste tastes fruity or sweet. If the children's toothpaste is delicious, brushing their teeth is more fun. We offer children's toothpaste of the brands SPLAT and SENSITEETH. The Splat Junior fluoride-free children's toothpaste works with a unique milk enzyme complex that contributes to the development of the immune system and - like breast milk - provides protection against bacteria and plaque. Protection against tooth decay is provided by liquorice, which also prevents the formation of bacterial plaque. The immature enamel of the child is strengthened by hydroxyapatite. Splat Junior fluoride-free children's toothpaste is available in the delicious flavours Vanilla & Apple-Banana for Babies, Strawberry-Cherry, Fruity Ice Cream, Bubble Gum or Berry Cocktail. For older children from 6 years we offer SPLAT JUICY toothpastes. They also effectively protect against tooth decay and plaque, regenerate deeply and strengthen the tooth hard tissue. Calcium hydroxylapatite (mHAP) acts like a filling and penetrates deeply into damaged areas of the enamel and strengthens the enamel. This makes the surface of the teeth smoother and more resistant to bacteria and acids. Juicy toothpastes are available in chocolate, stracciatella, peach and tutti-frutti flavours for everyone with a sweet tooth. The gluten-free formula of SENSITEETH combines fluoride and calcium to provide the enamel with minerals and to strengthen it. Myrrh, sage and xylitol are anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.  Our children's toothpastes contain no harmful ingredients and are therefore harmless if accidentally swallowed.

Tips for the right dental care for children

Just like permanent teeth, children's teeth should be brushed twice a day. Help your child and make brushing teeth a playful ritual. Sing a song, use a toothbrush or a mascot to help you brush your teeth. A colourful children's toothbrush brings additional pleasure to the bathroom and cleans children's teeth gently and effectively.

Apply a small dash of children's toothpaste to your child's toothbrush. Do you know the name "KAI technology"? The abbreviation stands for the cleaning technique: occlusal surfaces, outer surfaces, inner surfaces. So first clean the occlusal surfaces, starting step by step from the lower jaw and leading to the upper jaw. Clean the right side first, then the left side and again starting from the bottom with even movements back and forth. Be careful not to exert too much pressure. Then clean the outer surfaces with circular movements. Your child should close the teeth so that the teeth lie on top of each other. It is brushed from the centre to the right and to the left. Finally, the inner surfaces are cleaned "from red to white", i.e. from the gums to the teeth. Put it on the bottom of the tooth and sweep your child's jaw upwards until all the food crumbs have been removed.

Most children can brush their own teeth from primary school age. However, you and your dentist should check your brushing technique regularly and give tips. Children of kindergarten age should also brush their own teeth to learn the technique, but then brush them again to make sure that they have cleaned their teeth properly.

Children's toothpaste with or without fluoride

Whether a child's toothpaste should contain fluoride cannot be answered clearly. Dentists and paediatricians disagree on the best way to treat infants and young children with caries-inhibiting fluorides. For young children, it is not impossible that they may accidentally swallow toothpaste and therefore there is a possibility of excessive fluoride intake. The SPLAT children's toothpaste that you will find in our range is fluoride-free. The caries protection of these toothpastes is provided by the innovative LUCTATOL® system. Liquorice extract also provides effective protection against tooth decay. If fluoride is important in children's dental care, we recommend the SENSITEETH products from Frezyderm. It is up to you to decide whether to give your child toothpaste with or without fluoride. If in doubt, talk to your dentist and paediatrician. It is important that your child does not miss out on dental care and that they learn with fun and joy how to keep their teeth healthy.
